Neat photos..... I thought at first it was Thalassomedon haningtoni at the Denver Museum (original mount)... but don't think so now... too small...

Hope we can ID it.... the smog / fog in the background of the first picture would certainly fit California back in the 1960s... LOL

....and yeah, you can see a palm tree or two... definitely California

hi mike
did you find who s wo? to me it look like the morenausaurus stocki on display at the natural history museum of los angeles county.the guy a the right look to me as arthur Drescher ,it was preparator of this specimen in the caltech lab in 1939. he retired in 1978 and was living in oregon.if is still in life it must have now 100 years.
it s a really great picture.

Jnoun,
No, I have no further information on photos.. I'm sure they date back to the 1960s.... your information is probably correct.

hi friends
i confirm my first impression. this pictures was taken on a roof of the caltech's mudd geology building  in los angeles county.in a summer of 1943. the specimen is the morenausaurus stocki, and the guy's make the final changes to this specimen before exhibition at the los Angeles county museum of natural history. the guy in a whyte shirt was not the preparator arthur Drescher, but william Otto preparator for chester stock, specialist of mammals in L.A,and the second guy is eustace Furlong ,super preparator and great specialist of the mezozoics reptiles from California. on is picture it was here like a consultant for the final touch on this specimen dedicaced to chester Stock ,who organize the field crew from the California institute of technology. william otto was the guy sculpting the head of this great specimen.
is really a great picture.

Jnoun,

Thanks..  I appreciate the information. Much longer ago (1943) than I had thought.
